Tourism Product Development Workshop Held to Establish Stand-Alone Tourism Circuit in Baggao, Cagayan
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Baggao, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Region 2 (DOT-Region 2) and the Cagayan Tourism Office, successfully conducted a Tourism Product Development Workshop aimed at creating a stand-alone tourism circuit for the municipality. The workshop was held at the legislative office of the LGU-Baggao and brought together key stakeholders from both the private and public sectors. This two-day event is expected to establish a tourism circuit that will boost Baggao’s appeal as a tourist destination.
Tourism Officer Dan Paolo Ramos welcomed the participants and set the tone of the undertaking, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in shaping Baggao’s tourism future.
Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano of DOT-Region 2 expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, commending the diligence and proactive leadership of Baggao’s local officials in championing tourism development for the town. “This initiative demonstrates the commitment of Baggao to harness its unique tourism potential and contribute to the region’s overall tourism growth,” he stated.
The workshop featured insightful presentations on the current state of tourism at both the provincial and regional levels. Honey Carmona, Planning Officer of the Cagayan Tourism Office, and Joylyn Cauilan, Supervising Tourism Officer of DOT-Region 2, provided comprehensive overviews of tourism dynamics and opportunities in the area.
Additionally, Tourism Operations Officer Kristine Wandagan discussed the accreditation process, aimed at encouraging private tourism enterprise owners and managers to subject their enterprises for accreditation. This initiative ensures adherence to quality standards in their products and services, fostering greater trust and satisfaction among tourists.
Senior Tourism Officer Romeo Caranguian delivered lectures on tourism product development, emphasizing strategies and best practices for creating a cohesive and marketable tourism circuit. The interactive sessions allowed stakeholders to contribute ideas, ensuring that the proposed tourism circuit reflects the unique characteristics and strengths of Baggao.
The event underscored the importance of collaboration in tourism development. The convergence of local officials, business representatives, and community leaders highlighted a shared commitment to positioning Baggao as a premier tourism destination in the region.
