P447-M road projects to boost 2nd district Cagayan tourism

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug. 7 (PIA) – -The Department of Public Works and Highways through the Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-CSDEO) continues to build  better roads to make tourism destinations in Cagayan more accessible to the public.

According to District Engineer Lorna B Asuten, a total of 447 million pesos has been allotted to their office for CY 2018 intended for creation and improvement of roads leading to the tourist spots in the 2nd Congressional District of Cagayan.

Among the road projects include roads from the Our Lady of Piat Shrine to agri-ecotourism park in Piat town;  Aquib-Dugayong Bridge and Piat Diversion Road in Piat town; roads leading to Bagu and Mingay Beach resorts and Pata lighthouse in Claveria town; and roads leading to the Cararangatan Caves, Cababaan Caves, and Sibang Cove in island-municipality of Calayan.

With the construction of the new roads, access to other tourist destinations in the province  including the Cataratan Falls in Allacapan town and the Sicalao Falls in Lasam town will be easier.

“When completed, tourists will be able to visit these tourist destinations and spark economic growth through rural enterprise productivity and tourism,” Asuten said.

The projects are funded and implemented in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) thru the Convergence and Special Support Program. (MDCT/PIA-2/MBA /Raquel A. Salibad (DPWH-CSDEO))
