DOT Sec Puyat Calls for Regenerative Tourism Industry
CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Outgoing Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat called on the various tourism industry stakeholders to create tourism enterprises that are regenerative.
Secretary Puyat, in her message delivered virtually before the over 176 tourism stakeholders during the Regional Tourism Forum and Awards Night held here last month, urged everyone to find ways to make the country’s natural attractions (resources) even better than before.
“We want our tourists to make their travel to the Philippines more meaningful by leaving a positive imprint in the sites and destinations they go to, including the host communities,” she said.
Everyone here present in this forum is encouraged to partner in this endeavor, Puyat said even as she emphasized that the country still has a long road ahead before it fully recovers from the effects of the COVID 19 crisis.
“Along the way, there will still be setbacks and challenges that we can always look back at our journey experience in this pandemic,” she emphasized.
Such experiences taught that everyone’s readiness to collaborate and adopt will always get us through hard times and come up better and stronger than before, Puyat added.
Meanwhile, Secretary Puyat cited the hardworking men and women of the DOT Region 2 led by Regional Director Fanibeth Domingo for conducting the Regional Tourism Forum and Awards Night and for stirring the region’s various tourism stakeholders for buoying up the tourism industry in their respective areas even amidst the health pandemic.#PR/RTFAN/#18
