DOT Region 2 Celebrates National Tourism Week with Eucharistic Celebration, Coinciding with the 50th Jubilee Anniversary of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao
In observance of National Tourism Week, the Department of Tourism Region 2 (DOT Region 2), led by Regional Director Troy Alexander G. Miano, participated in a special Eucharistic celebration at the St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral Parish today, September 20, 2024. The mass, presided by His Excellency Most Reverend Archbishop Ricardo Baccay, D.D., also marked the 50th Jubilee Anniversary of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao and the Commemoration of the Dedication of the Cathedral.
During the celebration, the DOT Region 2 took an active role by sponsoring the offerings during the mass. A wreath was laid at the tomb of Archbishop-Emeritus Most Rev. Teodulfo S. Domingo, D.D., in honor of his contributions to the local Church and community.
“This is a momentous occasion as we join hands with the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao in both celebrating the National Tourism Week and paying tribute to the 50 years of service and faith of the Archdiocese,” said RD Miano. “Tourism is more than just destinations—it’s also about our shared heritage, culture, and the values that bind our communities together.”
The event highlighted the harmonious relationship between tourism and the cultural heritage of the Cagayan Valley region, exemplifying DOT Region 2’s commitment to promoting tourism while embracing the spiritual and historical fabric of the area.
The St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral Parish, a historical landmark and the seat of the Archdiocese, played a significant role in the religious and cultural heritage of the region. The cathedral’s dedication anniversary and the Jubilee celebration serve as a testament to the enduring faith of the local community and its vital contribution to the region’s identity.
