DOT ASSISTS STRANDED TOURISTS IN THE REGION
The Department of Tourism, Cagayan Valley and Northern Philippine Islands Regions has been actively monitoring distressed stranded tourists in the region due to Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
On 18 March 2020, four foreign tourists were assisted and ferried to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila to ensure they are able to leave the Philippines on their scheduled flights.
The DOT arranged their transportation thru the Northern Luzon Transport Operators and Drivers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NOLTRANSCO), an accredited transport operator in the region.
Moreover, DOT is currently coordinating with the Batanes PLGU to repatriate 16 tourists still marooned in the island province.
DOT is continuously assisting tourists and Overseas Filipino Workers to leave the country. The DOT is also providing free accommodation to stranded guests.
