AuthentiCity of Ilagan Tourism Circuit Makes Grand Debut at Philippine Travel Mart
The Department of Tourism, Region 2 (DOT-Region 2) proudly unveiled the “AuthentiCity of Ilagan: Your Journey to Leisure and Discoveries” tourism circuit at the 35th Philippine Travel Mart, held today, September 6, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
Organized in collaboration with the City Government of Ilagan, the event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the city, with a special highlight on the iconic Mammangi Festival, a vibrant celebration of Ilagan’s agricultural legacy. The festival underscores the city’s deep-rooted connection to its farming community, particularly its corn industry.
During the program, Mayor Josemarie Diaz presented the city’s diverse tourism offerings, underscoring Ilagan’s transformation into a leading travel destination. He also emphasized the accolades the city has received in recognition of its development. Mayor Diaz, joined by city officials, expressed their collective commitment to ensuring the success of the new tourism circuit on the national stage.
DOT-Region 2 Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano acknowledged the essential role of the local government unit (LGU) in making the tourism circuit’s launch possible. He extended his heartfelt thanks to all the officials, tourism officers, and stakeholders whose support has been instrumental in positioning Ilagan as a top destination in the region.
One of the event’s highlights was the launch of the regional tourism jingle, performed by the Abbayao Pangkat Mananayaw from Isabela State University – Ilagan Campus. Their energetic dance routine, coupled with captivating cultural performances, brought an additional layer of vibrancy to the occasion.
The launch drew an impressive crowd, including provincial, city, and municipal tourism officers, along with private sector stakeholders from across the region. Their attendance signified a united effort to bolster Ilagan’s presence as a premier tourism destination in the Philippines.#
